Re-discovering ourselves

“Re-Discovering Ourselves” is a painting that captures the journey of self-exploration and discovery. Singapore +7hrs

The tactile texture of concrete forms the foundation of Stephanie Loo-Ng’s creative expression. In this work, two distinct black bands and a blue background symbolize the contrast between day and night in Europe and Singapore, visually representing the time difference between the two places.

This limited overlap in time zones reflects a deeper tension: how we can remain disconnected despite constant connectivity. While Europe awakens, Singapore rests—revealing the emotional weight of distance and the fragility of maintaining presence across time.

The work acts as a metaphor for the nature of communication, questioning the quality and depth of our digital interactions. Despite limitless technological connectivity, our moods, energies, and sense of presence remain out of sync. It challenges how far technology can truly stretch our capacity for closeness across distance and time.
